Black and white photographs, and color slides focusing on historic and contemporary houses and churches in Queens, with a concentration on Astoria, Flushing, Jamaica, and Whitestone. Reproductions of black and white photographs of individuals which emphasize their clothing, 1862-1886. Photographs of historic houses in Queens; of school classes, 1928-1934; and of move of Kingsland House from one area in Flushing to another, 1968. Photographs by Richard Blazej depict scenes and events including an Indian medicine show, Whitestone, Queens, gargoyles on buildings in Manhattan, and village scenes in France and Germany, 1919-1972. Other photographs taken by Jacob F. Wieners, Jr., illustrate scenes of College Point. Included are photographs of group scenes of firemen, parades, band concerts, historic houses, a church, and ships. Photographs taken by Blazej and Wieners are identified. Also photographs with accompanying description and analysis, prepared by Robert Friedrich, of the following historic houses in Queens: Cornwall-Fogarty Homestead, Johannes Sprong House, Schermerhorn Mansion, Flushing Institute, and Quaker Meeting House, 1956-1957; and an album of albumen prints of unidentified individuals, n.d.

Friedrich, Robert C., 1934-2006

Robert Friedrich spent most of his career as a librarian with the Queens Library System in New York and was known as the College Point Neighborhood historian. He also owned a collectables shop in California in the 1970s. Friedrich was a collector of milk glass, and he wrote a number of articles for the periodical of the National Milk Glass Collectors Society....
